ANIMATING HOPE ONE FRAME AT A TIME
The purpose of the AnimAID Wildfire Relief Fund is to support individuals in the animation industry who have lost their homes or been indefinitely displaced.
Eligibility
- Loss of home, or
- Evacuated and now indefinitely displaced
- At least two years of experience in feature film or television, verified via credits through IMDB, LinkedIn, and/or written employer confirmation, to be submitted to AnimAID when requesting a verification letter.
Required Documentation
- Proof of home loss due to fire
- Proof of evacuation
- Verification letter of eligibility provided by AnimAID/ASIFA-Hollywood: relief.animaid.org
- Government issued photo ID
AnimAID was established to provide financial assistance to members of the animation community affected by the recent LA fires. AnimAID is a fiscally sponsored project of ASIFA-Hollywood, a 501(c)(3) public charity, ensuring proper fund management, record-keeping, and distribution oversight. Funds will be allocated through the Entertainment Community Fund (ECF) organization, which will vet applicants and oversee disbursement. AnimAID aims to provide financial assistance in two phases – Immediate Relief (Phase 1) and Extended Relief (Phase 2).
Amount and Application Window:
- Phase 1 – eligible applicants will receive $2500/family.
- Application Window for Phase 1 to start April 7th – June 27th.
- Phase 2 – is to be determined pending future fundraising events
Process for Letter of Eligibility:
- Applicants can apply first through the AnimAid/ASIFA-Hollywood Relief Portal.
- An internal committee will review eligibility.
- Eligible applicants will receive a Letter of Eligibility from AnimAID/ASIFA-Hollywood to use for their application to the ECF Disaster Emergency Financial Assistance portal.
- Once the ECF application has been submitted, ECF will assign a social worker to work confidentially with each applicant to verify their housing status and provide assistance, inclusive of fund disbursement and any other support or services the applicant may need.
- ECF will verify housing status through proof of residence documents provided by applicants and Genesis, the LA website with address specific status.
- Once qualified, applicants will receive the funds as directed by AnimAid.
- ECF will distribute the funds directly into the applicant’s bank account.
Eligibility Criteria for AnimAID/ASIFA-Hollywood:
To be eligible, applicants must have:
- At least two years of experience in feature or television (verified via credits through IMDB, LinkedIn, and/or written employer confirmation)
- Lost their primary home and/or are evacuated and now indefinitely displaced
- Government issued Photo ID and/or proof of address and identification
